Thanks to Adam's disobedience to God, we have all inherited his sin. The ultimate genetic hand-me-down! The Bible says that the wages of sin is death and the Gift of God is eternal life through His Son, Jesus. Jesus was born, suffered and died to pay for the sins of all who would believe in Him. There is no "work" that we can do to avoid separation from God. The keyword is "gift".
At the age of 40, I was challenged to read the Bible and I found myself discovering the God I had rejected in my youth. In the depths of depression and the meaningless life I was leading, I confessed my own sins and accepted Jesus as my Savior. In a single moment, alone and on my knees, God changed me and gave me peace.
If anyone reading this does not really know God or His Son, I urge you to pray for that knowledge and read the Bible. And don't fall into the trap that I was in for so many years.......look for God in Christ, not in us Christians.
