This Sterling Silver Stock Buckle belonging to the first Bowlby immigrant, Thomas Bryan Bowlby  (1665-1729/30), is now in the possession of Robert Ross Bowlby and photographed by myself in March 2000.  This clothing accessory was used by gentlemen of that time to secure their wide lace collar or scarf (known as a stock) at the back of the neck.
